The Ordering Process:

How to place an order.

STEP 1:
For personalized printed products... find the design you like, click on it, and then find the link "request a personalized proof". You would receive a free emailed proof, after which, you could ask for a few edits/changes. Once your design is finalized, you can go to Step 2.

If you are ordering blank unprinted cards, holders, or envelopes, skip to Step 2 and send Save the Date Originals an email.

STEP 2:
Once your design (to be printed) is finalized, the next step is to decide on the quantity of what you are ordering. In the case of magnets, you might also decide to add something like envelopes or holders to your order. You decide, and then, email Angela to her know. Which brings us to Step 3.

STEP 3:
Once ALL of the details of your order are sorted out, an order page will be set up. This order page will have the final design, cost, production time, and other details of your order for review. You can use a secure server to place your order online. *If you would prefer to mail in a check, an alternate version of the order page would be emailed to you*

Personalized emailed proofs.

Personalized emailed proofs are available, and, you can't actually place an order for a printed product without getting one! This is part of STEP 1 in "How to place an order".

Personalized printed proofs.

CARD: Printed proofs (of your custom or personalized design) are available for some of the save the date cards, and usually cost about $10. This cost will vary. Some invitations are also available for custom printed proofs. This cost could be anywhere from $15-$30. Availability of printed card proofs will depend on whether a special card stock is being used for the invitation or save the date; If it isn't something constantly in stock (like white or cream card stock), a custom printed proof is probably not available.

MAGNET: Printed proofs (of your custom or personalized design) are available for some magnet sizes and usually cost about $15.

When ordering a custom printed sample magnet for $15, the customer gets $10 off the later larger order of the same design.

If the customer requests any changes to the color(s) of the design after seeing the first printed proof, a new sample is printed up and sent. The customer instead gets $5 off the later full order.

If an additional color change is then requested, the customer will receive another printed proof, but no discount on the later full order.

How long does it take to finalize a design?

This time frame is entirely variable! It depends on whether you are just getting something personalized, or if you are having me hand draw something for you. It also depends on how many changes you request after seeing the initial proof. Check out the contact page for current response times.

Personal photographs on designs

Yes you can! Photographic save the dates are fun. Photographs can be emailed or mailed. A note of caution though: Often, customers will not have access to the original high quality print file of the photograph they want me to print. Unfortunately, that can lead to a lower quality print. Check out the to learn more about photographs.

What products are available?

Save the Date Originals offers quite a lot!

For refrigerator magnets... save the dates (of course), wedding favors, magnets for birthday, family, or school events, advertising and promotional magnets, you name it.

For cards, you could get save the date cards, birthday invitations, baby shower invitations, bridal shower invitations, wedding invitations, baby announcements, engagement party invitations, rehearsal dinner invitations... but that is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to cards. You might also want small itinerary cards. Or maybe you want programs. Thank you cards and notecards are also available. Get a laminated book mark; Get a circular card; Get a flat, folded, or layered card... or... a pocketfold!
A variety of stickers are also available. Circular envelope seals, address labels, CD labels, rectangular favor labels... you can also get black ink printed see-through clear stickers.

Blank cards and card stock are available. Specialty products include photographic myriad posters and printed CDs.

Which products come with envelopes?

Most cards will automatically come with envelopes. Most magnets and stickers will not. Check out the details and pricing for a design you like, and look for any mention of envelopes.

Will I need to do any assembly?

Magnets arrive assembled. Based on questions I have received in the past, I surmise that some companies will send a printed piece, and a separate magnetic piece, and then expect customers to glue them together. Printed magnets you purchase from me will arrive as one piece, printed on one side, magnetic on the other.

If you order magnet holders, and you order magnets, this is an order of two different products. Assembly is not automatically included. You would receive a stack of magnets, and a stack of slitted cards. The same goes for any order that includes envelopes. You would receive a stack of cards (or magnets) and a stack of envelopes.

Some invitations include multiple pieces and layers. Depending on your project, you may be able to choose whether you want me to do the assembly, or, to do the assembly yourself in order to save a little on cost.

Are magnets glossy?

Almost all magnets are glossy! A rare magnet design might not be glossy- usually those for which you can order quantities under 50. Check out the pricing and details page for the magnet size/design that you like. That page will definitely say whether or not the magnet is glossy.

Magnet Holders

The magnet holders I sell are 5.5x4.25 inches, and have two slits to hold the small magnet size. Check out your options on the

You can get holders for other, larger magnet sizes; That will cost more. You would need to contact Save the Date Originals for a price quote.

Postage for mailing magnets

As of 2011: Small magnets + holders can be mailed out with 1 first class stamp! 4x2.5 inch magnets can be mailed out alone in an envelope with just a first class stamp too.

Larger magnets, like the 5.5x4.25 and 4x7 inch magnets will need more postage though. It will probably be just over the first class stamp cost, but not as much as two stamps. If you go to the post office with the envelopes and have them weighed, you can pay for only the exact postage you need, rather than putting two stamps on.

Pricing:

Production & Shipping

Is rush production available?

The production time of some magnet orders can be rushed. Pricing depends on the magnet size and the quantity being ordered. A good estimate on rush production is $30.

Shipping Info (Which Countries, APO/FPO)

USPS priority shipping is Save the Date Originals carrier of choice. This is a low cost option with a reasonable delivery time. Typically, orders arrive 2-4 days after they are shipped.

If you need a faster service, you could save a few days by going with Express shipping, which is a more guaranteed 1-2 days. For large magnet orders, however, the cost of shipping the order Express would be very high due to weight.

Shipping outside the USA is entirely possible. Cost would depend on location and weight of the shipment. I need to know that I am shipping outside the country prior to you placing your order so that I can give you an accurate time frame and shipping cost. The cheapest shipping option, first class, typically takes 1-2 weeks.

Shipping to APO/FPO addresses is no problem. Add $5 to shipping costs you see on the website.

Slow Shipping?

Can you save on shipping costs by going with a slower method? No. USPS offers good rates with their priority flat rate boxes. Magnet orders will usually only cost between $5 and $12 to ship with these flat rates, which is impressive for heavy shipments.

Will I need to sign for my shipment?

Unless you request signature service, your package will not require a signature for delivery.

Order pick up

If you live reasonably close to the 53224 zipcode, and would like to pick up your order, you can do so. Let Angela know that you would like to do this prior to placing your order, and your order page will have $0 for shipping. Instead of receiving a shipment notification when your order is ready, you will receive a note about available pickup times during the next week.

Important Info:

Return Policy.

Custom printed products can not be returned. Something that has been personalized is not something I can sell to another customer. If your date has changed and you need to reorder the same design with a new date, I might be able to give you a slight discount.

Guarantees & Notices.

GUARANTEE: If something goes wrong with your order, Save the Date Originals will definitely want to resolve your complaint. Your first step should be to double check the order details on your order page. Then, send an email. You will need to send the product to me so that I can further evaluate your complaint. If needed, a reprint would be issued.

Before you order, however, you should be aware of a couple things.

FIRST: Shipping delays are possible. Once your package is handed off to the postal service, it is in their hands. If something happens to delay your package- such as a truck breaking down, or bad weather- there is not anything I can do about it.

SECOND: Colors can look a little different in print than they do on your computer. Computer monitors are usually not calibrated to show you exactly how colors are going to print. This problem is universal to any online printing service. Monitors have different models, and different settings; Printing machinery also varies in type and settings.

For example, I have had a couple of customers that were completely unable to see light gray or yellow colors on their monitors- those colors showed up as white to them. Your computer monitor's Contrast and Brightness settings will vary, and are not something I can control. When viewing proofs online, I recommend checking to make sure that your monitor is not at all of it's brightest possible settings (especially flat screens). Colors can appear darker or lighter on your monitor than they are going to print. There isn't always a difference, or if so, it is usually only slight, but yes, the colors can be a lighter or darker than expected. In rare cases, the customer will feel like there was a big difference, and that is regrettable... but because I cannot control exactly what each customer sees in their monitor, free reprints are not offered.

If you know you want a most exact design, you may want to find a company that offers custom printed proofs for magnets. Some cards and invitations offered with Save the Date Originals will be available for custom printed proofs, at $10-$15. Email to ask about the availability of your desired design.

THIRD: I am not liable for spelling or information errors- the final design will be on your order page, and you should review it for any last minute changes before ordering. This is why order pages are set up with the final design right there for you to look at.

Changing the design after you have placed an order...

On your order page, there was a note saying something like "this design can not be changed after # of hours". That # is your window for second thoughts on the design. If you are outside that window- your design is already being printed and can not be changed. If you are inside that window, send an email with "URGENT" in the title. The procedure is then as follows:

* Your order will now be on hold- production will not begin until the design is re-finalized.

* When you are ready to approve a new emailed proof, a new page will be set up with the new version of the design. You would need to type in your initials to approve the new version and get production started.

* The production time will be reset when you approve the new version. The production timeframe on your order page won't apply to your order date- only to the date you finalized the new version of the design.

* After initializing, you will have another 30 hour period during which you could decide to ask for another change.

Canceling the order...

On your order page, there was a note saying something like "this design can not be changed after # of hours". That # is your window for second thoughts on the order. If you are within that window, you can cancel your order for an 80% refund.

If you are outside that window, it is unlikely that you can cancel for even a partial refund. With wedding invitation orders than span a 2.5 week production time, if you cancel halfway through, you might be able to get a refund on some of the printing and assembly that hasn't been finished yet- but the materials will already have been purchased.

General Information

What is a save the date?

Save the dates are a sort of pre-invitation announcement for events that will take place months away. These have come to replace engagement announcements. Printed refrigerator magnets are especially popular for save the dates because they are, well, perfect for keeping your event on your guests mind. A save the date should be short and simple. NO RSVPs! Only if you are having a desination (foreign country) wedding do you need to include more information.

How to I get my hands on some sample magnets or cards?

Save the Date Originals is happy to send samples! Samples of every possible size are not always available.

Terms: flat/folded/tent cards, matte/glossy/laminated finish.

Flat cards: Card with no folds or panels of any kind.

Folded cards: Cards that somehow involve a fold. The size listed is usually the size of the card when folded.

Tri-fold: This usually refers to a card that has two scored lined- two folds. Two folds gives the card three panels, which is why these are called "tri-folds" instead of "bi-folds"

Tent cards: These are cards with a fold; But they also have another piece of card stock joining them at the bottom. These will stand on their own, and are are good for guestbook signs are table numbers.

Glossy finish: a shiny gloss is applied to one side of the card- not quite the same thing as lamination.

Matte finish: Not glossy, not laminated- plain.

Laminated: A thick, durable coating is applied to the item. Laminated cards will be laminated front and back.

Long website addresses...

I get a great deal of business from referrals on message boards. Many, come from theKnot. In regards to the long website addresses theKnot gives for those personal web pages, if you want to put one on a small vertical magnet, I would suggest using notlong.com to shorten the address. In some cases, those addresses will be long enough that they are trouble fitting on a small *horizontal* magnet!

Notlong.com will let you choose the text of your url to an extent, which is why I favor it over tinyurl.com. I am not responsible if notlong.com ever malfunctions, but I can tell you that a notlong.com address I created still works over 5 years later. I know many of you want the website on your magnet, but a lot of designs for the small sized magnet are not compatible with this. Consider including it on the card, or a note, when mailing the magnets.
